Butterfly Art

We are in the process of redoing the girls’ room.  New furniture, new quilts, and new wall art.

Butterfly Art

There was one wall with a huge empty spot that needed a piece of art but we didn’t want to spend a lot of money since we still have some accessories to buy for the room.  I have seen butterfly art similar to this around the web so I decided to give it  shot.

Butterfly Art

I am thrilled with how it turned out!

To make it I started with a 24″x36″ white canvas and spray painted it a gorgeous deep pink.  Then I used my Cameo to cut out butterflies in several different sizes in three different shades of pink.  I chose a three dimensional butterfly shape for the cutouts.

After the butterflies were all cut out I laid them out on the canvas to figure out the placement.  My final step was to add some liquid glue to the back of the butterflies to adhere them to the canvas.  I used a Martha Stewart glue.

I let the glue dry overnight and then added a saw tooth bracket to the back to hang it on the wall.

My girls love it and it looks so pretty in their room!

  14. Hi Shirley, IT’s so Beautiful, may i know what kind of cameo you used to cut out the butterfly???

    Thanks

  15. Hi Shirley! I’ve been trying to pull up the shape you used but it just sends me to a standard page. What’s the specifi butterfly template name you used? And would you be willing to make these for me in black in different sizes and if so, what would you charge me to 50 or so of them? I’m doing an “Upper Room” in my attic and it will be me reading, praying, getaway room from my large family. I want to do some butterfly art with black butterflies, and I’ll use a white pencil to write meaningful words, Scriptures or phrases on them. Thank you so much for your help!!!
