Handmade Matching Game

A neighbor of ours turned one recently and I decided to make part of his gift.   How about a Superhero matching game?

Super cute isn’t it?  All three of my own children have asked for sets for themselves.  Cool Mom for a day?  I’ll take it.

Want to  make a set of your own?  Here’s how I did it.

Supplies:  Clip art ( purchased mine on Etsy), 2 inch wooden discs, Mod Podge, 2 inch circle punch, sandpaper, twill bag.

Step 1:  Print out your clip art on card stock, 2 of each design.

Step 2:  Use the circle punch to punch out the clip art.

Step 3:  Mod Podge each paper circle to the wooden discs.

Step 4:  Once dry I used the sandpaper to sand around the edges because the discs were just slightly smaller than 2 inches- grrrrrr.  I think next time I will use print and cut with my Silhouette Cameo for the exact size of the discs so I don’t have to do this.  It took quite a bit of time sanding around the edges of 20 discs!

Step 5:  Mod Podge once over the top of the paper to seal and let dry.

Step 6:  Bag and gift!

I have an embroidery machine so I also decided to personalize the bag.

Easy, cute and hopefully a favorite!

Introducing . . .

I decided over the weekend to create an easier way for readers (and myself) to quickly find past tutorials, project, and printables.

Introducing a Tutorials, Projects, and Printables page!  It is so simple to use.  Just find the picture of the tutorial, project, or printable that you want to navigate to, click the picture and your wishes will be granted.  Yay!

Halloween Subway Art

Every year I like to add something new to my holiday decor and this year I decided to make my own Halloween Subway Art!

Halloween Subway Art

I am thrilled with the way it turned out!

The process:  cut wood board to size (mine is 12″ x 18″), three coats of black paint, two coats of white paint, add reverse stencil (created on my Silhouette Cameo), two more layers of black paint, peel off the stencil, distress with sander/sandpaper.  Of course I let it dry in between layers of paint.

My favorite part?  The BOO ghosts!

Love it?  Pin it!

Gluten Free, Dairy Free Banana Bread

As part of my Crossfit training I am working hard to stick to the Paleo diet, but  I’ve been craving some baked goodies so this morning I made this yummy goodness.

Gluten Free Dairy Free Banana Bread

This is not my recipe, I found it on the Internet and now I can’t remember the source.  Once I find it I’ll give proper credit.

4 TBSN honey

2 Bananas

4 TBSN olive oil

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

2 cups almond flour

1/4 cup almond milk

Gluten Free Dairy Free Banana Bread

3.  Mash bananas and then add them to the mixture.  Also add the olive oil, baking soda, vanilla, cinnamon and almond flour.  Mix!

4.  Add almond milk for desired consistency (I actually only added about 1/8th cup)

5.  Coat a loaf pan with olive oil or coconut oil.  I poured a little on a paper towel and then wiped it around the inside of the pan.

6.  Pour mixture into the pan and cook for 40 to 55 minutes.  (I overcooked mine a little, oops)

Let it cool for a bit and then slice that baby up!

No need for butter, it is delicious all on it’s gluten, dairy free own!

DIY Letterpress Cards

I had several graduation celebrations to attend this weekend so I decided to use  my letterpress supplies to make some cards.

DIY letterpress notecards

I have a Sizzix Big Shot and a custom letterpress printing plate that I ordered from Lifestyle Crafts.

DIY letterpress notecards

1.  Using placement guides lay the card flat on the Sizzix platform.

2. Adhere the letterpress plate to the cover of the Sizzix platform making sure it is lined up where you want it to make an impression on the card.

3.  Add a tiny amount of the ink to the ink base and spread it thin with the brayer.

4.  Use the brayer to add ink to the letterpress design.  Less is better as I am learning or else the ink will bleed.

5.  Close the cover of the platform and run it through the Sizzix.

DIY letterpress notecards

You can see how the text on the card above is not very crisp, that is because I used a little to much of the ink on the letterpress plate.

Other than that I am pleased with how these cards turned out.  Simple, cute, and easy!

Linking up to these great parties!
